There is no specific error however output indicates that the host is not changed. Can you check the current igbn driver installed version using esxcli software vib list |grep -i igbn

Check if the installed version and the current version which you are installing is of same version?

You can look into the esxcli.log in var/log

Thanks,

Where is the forum for ESXi 6.5?

I am running ESXi 6.5.0 as a VM under Workstation 12 which is running on Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials.  When I go to VMTN Forums (communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn) under VMware Infrastructure I see ESXi 3.5, ESX 3.5 and ESX 3.0.  There is no forum for ESXi 6.5.  Where is the forum for ESXi 6.5.0?

You are right there: There's only one forum for ESXi 4.0, and later.

Btw. in case your issue is related to the setup you mentioned, you may also want to look at Nested Virtualization for answers.

Welcome to the Community,

Assuming that users use different credentials, you may start with checking the host's Tasks&Events, to find out who enabled Maintenance mode for the host.

BUG REPORT: ESXi 6.5 web ui generates Unhandled Exception

I wasn't able to open a support ticket so I guess I will open this over here. I am getting an Unhandled Exception from the ESXi web ui. It happens whenever I try to edit the details of a VM. The guest details don't load properly. I'm seeing a lot of blanks and grayed out dropdowns where there used to be hardware options. If I try to fix the settings and click save I see:

Unfortunately, we hit an error that we weren't expecting.

The client may continue working, but at this point, we recommend refreshing your browser and submitting a bug report.

Press the Esc key to hide this dialog and continue without refreshing.

The details button gives me this:

Cause: TypeError: _vimTypes[configuration.config.scsis[i].Type] is not a constructor

ESXi: 6.5.0

How do I fix my VM so I can edit the details again?

Hi,

Did you check it on different browsers?

Try to install the latest VMware Tools on the guest and check the issue.

Anyway, the message can be ignored.

Thank you for your question and your helping.

I tried it with Mozilla Firefox 57.0.2, Google Chrome Version 63.0.3239.84, Microsoft Edge 41.16299.15.0, Internetexplorer 11.125.16299.0. On every Browser I get the same gray Screen on the second Page. The first page of the Installation menu is ok. I also tried with other Installation packages. I can install Ubuntu 16.04, but if I try to install Debian I get the gray Screen.

Server is a new Dell EMC - PowerEdge R740 with latest updates from Dell installed.

Greetings from Austria

How to install macOS on ESXi

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to install macOS 10.11 and 10.12 on ESXi, but my efforts have been fruitless so far. I would appreciate any type of help. I'm using ESXi 6.5.0 (Build 4564106). I was able to install the ovf and iso files on VMware 12 and 14, but I couldn't install ovf and iso files on ESXi.

Thanks in advance

Any updates from HPE on this?

I think we're experiencing the same issue.  2 C7000 enclosures, 24 blades with Virtual Connect modules and 650FLB NIC's in the blades.  ESXi 6, VM's will randomly drop off the network and come back when vMotioned.

Rebooting the hosts seems to make the issue go away for a while - last time we didn't see it for about 20 days after rebooting all the blades.

We are currently downgrading firmware on the NIC's to see if this helps.

Thanks for your reply, I agree with your points. but in our case I can see who enabled maintenance mode but there is no description on why it was moved to maintenance mode and the guy who did this task is no more with company. so I need to know the reason for MM purpose. I can see Host hardware health looks good.

Just tried the new i40en drivers (1.5.6) but had to switch back to the i40e_2.0.7 immediatly again, as VLAN tagging was no longer working properly with the i40en drivers.

Our X710-DA4 cards are of course already on the 6.01 NVM firmware and TSO/TSO6/LRO is disabled on our hosts. (due to problems and PDODs with both the i40e and i40en driver back in the days...and we never dared to enabled it again)
