I am having the same problem today. I just registered this morning. I've tried the Manually Download button option in Chrome and in Edge. When I click the manual download button, there's a Javascript error written to the console saying 'utag' is undefined. Looks like there's a bug in the Javascript preventing the download. If a dev at VMWare can take a look at line 1688 in evalcenter, we might be able to get some progress made with this issue.

Re: Update ESXi custom image
Ok thanks
You should make sure that if your current ESXi is custom build then you should upgrade with custom build image from same vendor
Ok but when i do
https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml | grep ESXi-6.5.0
it's only give me nack the offical realese, how can i get HPE release?
thanks
Re: Is it possible on ESXi to configure a virtual HDD tied to a USB controller?
> Or are you saying authoritatively that this is not supported in ESXi?
I would not claim any authority on that matter - its more that I am 97% sure that if there was a way to do that I would know about it.
That includes VMware Workstation and ESXi.
Re: Update ESXi custom image
you are using Vmware sofware reposi as a software depot. You should use HP software repository instead.
hope the following doc helps

Re: Invalid VM after weekend
It looks like the original storage drive is offline, but still shows up. I'm investigating further and will update this post with the solution once found.
The storage drive is connected to the host via Fibre Channel and the storage is online, but the vSphere can't see the storage itself.
Re: Vmware Esxi Update No Space Left On Device Error
Thanks, guys solved my issue too. working
Re: Opinion on taking snapshots prior to patching Linux VMs
I've not come across that opinion myself...
Remediate Virtual Machines and Virtual Appliances
Not sure what version you are running. The above documentation is VMware's own outline of the remediation process for VMs and appliances using update manager. You'll not that it is included at step ten to use snapshots for roll back of both VMs and appliances. It's pretty standard practice.
Now having said that, there are some limitations that you should consider when considering snapshots; Snapshot Limitations | Snapshot Files | Snapshot Formats on VMFS , None of them are linked specifically to a Linux OS, However, perhaps your VMs have a configuration or your storage is configured in such a way that means snapshots are not really an options for you.
Hope this helps

Re: Install ESXi 6.5 on R730 with Intel X710
I just finished updating my 6 host vSAN cluster to the i40en 1.4.3 drivers. This has cut latency by over 50% and seems to have helped the general behavior of the cluster. I was also able to enable flow control although it is unclear as to if the NIC is actually obeying this configuration.
I was previously on 2.0.6 i40e drivers and this driver still seemed to have some issues.
I am running a Dell branded x710 so I don't have access to 6.x firmware at the moment.
Re: ESXi 6.5U1 - INFO (ne1000): false RX hang detected on vmnic0
Apologies for the delay, the ne1000 may be the only option for your setup. The only issue is if it is under high load situations there could be performance issues.
Re: Why RSS Capable is False on VMXNET3?
Stanley_ I can confirm that 10.1.7 does not fix this issue. I've yet to upgrade to 10.1.10 but I have a Server 2016 Core box which is experiencing it.
New to VMware 5.5 snapshot question
Have a question new to Vmware 5.5
Snapshots
I have a machine I ran a snapshot on vmware 5.5. They performed a upgrade on the server and it didnt work out. I went into snapshot manager and did a Goto the snapshot. We are running now on the snapshot.
How do I now commit permanently to the snap shot and get rid of the "you are here". They want to keep the snapshot version get rid of the upgrade changes to retry the upgrade again. They have been running on the snapshot for about a week now.
thanks
Rob
Re: vSphere 6.5 can't delete datastore
Storage I/O control isn't enabled in my cluster.
I looked through the logs and the only thing that stood out related to trying to remove the datastore was this:
datastoreSystem-145 -- vim.host.DatastoreSystem.removeDatastore: vim.fault.ResourceInUse:
--> Result:
--> (vim.fault.ResourceInUse) {
--> faultCause = (vmodl.MethodFault) null,
--> faultMessage = <unset>,
--> type = "vim.Datastore",
--> name = "VMWare1"
--> msg = ""
--> }
--> Args:
-->
--> Arg datastore:
--> 'vim.Datastore:c0647406-94e5-426b-a697-db5c37d782ff:datastore-18'
Still doesn't say a whole lot.
What really gets me is when a datastore is actually in use, it doesn't let you unmount it as it fails the checks - but it's unmounting just fine.

Host1 appears to be running fine but this is clearly a messy situation.
I'm concert to touch it before resolving this.
I don't know what happens if I:
- restart the guest or the host
- take a snapshot
- rerun the backup
Even though the vmdk file is pretty big disk space should not be an issue:
host1 - 3.2TB free on datastore
guest1 OS - 85GB free
backup destination media D: - 3.4TB free
But I've noticed the following in vSphere:
Provisioned Storage: 1.18TB
Not-shared Storage: 642.21GB
Used Storage: 642.21GB
Is it possible that it runs out of space during snapshotting / imagining?
I would like to know what the safest recovery procedure from this situation is.
And what the root cause of me ended up here was.
Thanks
Adam
Re: What is the current technique for importing KVM VMs into Vcenter?
In that PDF doc:
"You can install Converter Standalone components only on Windows operating systems."
Re: New to VMware 5.5 snapshot question
Welcome to the Community,
Snapshots in VMware products work in a way where the parent files are treated as read-only, and changed blocks are written to the snapshot/delta file.
If you are happy with the VM's current state, I'd suggest you run "Delete All" from the Snapshot Manger, which will commit/merge all changes into the base virtual disk file. Once you are ready to try another upgrade, take a new snapshot prior to starting the upgrade.
In case the virtual disk has thin provisioned virtual disks, make sure that there's sufficient free disk sapce on the datastore to commit the snapshot.

Please help me unconfuse. ESXI 6.x
I am running esxi 6 and wish to update if necessary.
I under stand vsphere 6.0 is no longer supported and to use the web client
I have downloaded VMware-VIM-all-6.5.0-5973321.iso
This includes the updater. and Apparently must be run on a server
Questions is how much of this iso do I need and can it be run on server that is a VM?
I am afraid that installing the Vcenter-server will Blow up my installation.
Thank you in advance
Need help with host disconnecting - firewall question
We currently have our vCenter and 7 hosts on the same network, they all run great.
I am trying to add 2 new hosts that a vendor set up and put on a separate network.
We have a firewall between the two networks.
Currently we have a rule allowing all ports from the vcenter server to communicate out to the hosts via NAT.
I am able to connect the hosts to vcenter but they quickly stop responding.
My question is what ports may need to be open originating from the ESXi host through the firewall to the vCenter server?
Can they support NAT in this scenario?
Thanks
Re: Please help me unconfuse. ESXI 6.x
End of general support for vSphere 6.0 is March 2020 (see https://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/support/product-lifecycle-matrix.pdf )
I can't tell you exactly how much additional disk space you'll need for an upgrade, but you should have a few GB free disk space. Btw. the recommendation is to move towards the vCenter Server Appliance, rather than continuing with the Windows version. This however depends on your environment, and e.g. installed/required plugins.

Re: Please help me unconfuse. ESXI 6.x
IS the vserver appliance run as a separate vm and how does one get it.?
The before question is specific to the file i downloaded can that be installed on a existing vm win server without destroying the vm it not a question of how bidg the update is.
