Re: raid degraded, datastore stuck in limbo
i see pretty much the same as the vsphere gui. i have a datastore called datastore2, which was created on the raid drive that is internal to the host and that failed. it has one folder visible on it,...

Yon can certainly try to delete any files or folders on that datastore from the command line to see whether this helps. André
View ArticleRe: raid degraded, datastore stuck in limbo
Andre, I suspect that the underlying issue is that any attempts to read or write to the datastore, then are attempts to connect to a dead raid array, so it fails. can you tell me how to remove a...
View ArticleRe: HP BL460c Gen8 Server support version
but it doesn;t says 4.1 Embded version? can u confirm is it still support ESXi 4.1 embded version?
View ArticleRe: HP BL460c Gen8 Server support version
HI, If you look at hcl guide, it never says embded version. it says ESX, ESXI, ESXi install able. Which mean it support all three version. RegardsMohammed
View ArticleRe: HP BL460c Gen8 Server support version
but my simple question why specifically mention for ESXi installable version for 4.1 why not ESXi embded ? for 4.1 version only
View ArticleRe: HP BL460c Gen8 Server support version
Hi, I am not sure about exact reason. However this might help you to understand. Embedded ESXi is customized by VMware partner, like hardware vendor and they ship with hardware directly. RegardsMohammed
View ArticleRe: HP BL460c Gen8 Server support version
As I mentioned in my first reply, embedded and installable use the same binaries. The difference is more or less the name. "Embedded" is usually used for system where the vendor ships his OEM edition...
View ArticleRe: HP BL460c Gen8 Server support version
I understand that vendor provides embded version, but i am confused, rest of the server compability like HP G7, VMware specifically mentioned hardware support for ESXi 4.1 embded U2 or U3 like that but...
View ArticleRe: HP BL460c Gen8 Server support version
I can't tell you why Embedded is sometimes listed and sometimes not. Maybe a documentation issue.Maybe worth reading to understand the differences are just in the way the Hypervisor is installed, see...

Did you already try the steps in http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2013520?Often this error is not related with the virtual disk itself but rather with either the CBT-Files or a corrupted .vmsd file. André
View ArticleRe: The virtual disk is either corrupted or not a supported format.
That's one of the articles I looked at but it mentions to delete all snapshots and I don't have any to delete. That's why I was confused.
View ArticleRe: The virtual disk is either corrupted or not a supported format.
How did you confirm there are no snapshots? Did you verify that there are no <vmnam>-00000x.vmdk files in the VM's folder on the datastore? Even if there are no snapshots, you may try deleting...

I'm sorry, I just looked under the Snapshot Manager, assuming they were under there. I will look on the datastore.

What is the best ATI Gfx card to get guys that has been tested with passthrough under 5.0/5.1 running Windows/OSX/Linux guests? Cheers!
View ArticleRe: VMDirectPath and ATI Radeon
I have a 7970 in passthrough and it works wonderfully (I use 5.0)
View ArticleRe: VMDirectPath and ATI Radeon
I'm successfully passing through a 7970, a low profile 6670, a 7950, and 7850. I've also used a couple of 5xxx series cards. My son's VM uses the 7970 and he games on two 24" monitors passing HDMI...

great, sounds like I have a choice. I might go for the passively cooled asus 7750. I want the system to be as quiet as possible.
