Okay, glad you got a step further.
Now you'll need to rebuild your Snapshot chain.
You will have to reference the ID of the base disk inside the vmdk of your snapshot disk (*00001).
After that you will have to point the .vmx file to your snapshot disk (*00001.vmdk). Because vSphere/ESXi do not register edited vmx files you will then have to remove the vm from inventory and then register it again.
If everything works you should see your snapshot after that.
