How is the connectivity to storage? what is the scsi controller used for the VM?
Check the drivers and firmware on the ESXi and update it to the latest as per the compatibility guide -> kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1027206
