upgrading vcenter 4.1 to 5.1

I am doing inplace upgrade of vcenter from 4.1 to 5.1,

I forgot the exact steps to do this, but do I need to precreate the sso db in mssql first? Then run through the 5.1 vcenter install?

which db scripts do I need to run on the db server?
