I've got now a similar problem in my infrastructure.  I need that a vcenter 5.5 manages several ESX / ESXi 4.1.  The Product Interoperability Matrix says yes but when I try to add an old esx 4.1 into the new vcenter, I get this error message: The host is licensed with vsphere 4 Hypervisor.  "The license edition of vcenter server does not support vsphere 4 hypervisor."

Do you know something about it?
